Bilingual Advocate (Full-time, Pittsboro office) - Family Violence and Rape Crisis Services in Chatham County, NC, seeks an English/Spanish Bilingual Advocate. Advocates provide safety planning, assistance with protective orders, information and referral, and general support to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Additional responsibilities include: accompanying victims to magistrate, law enforcement, hospitals for advocacy during sexual assault examinations, etc. as needed; providing transportation when necessary; facilitating support groups; coordinating training for volunteer advocates; sharing back-up coverage for helpline after hours; recording and maintaining accurate data; and participating in team meetings, staff meetings and community meetings as requested. Requirements: Prefer a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field, and knowledge of trauma-informed care and anti-oppression principles. Extensive experience and training may substitute for degree. Must be fluent in written and oral English and Spanish (competency and conversation test administered during interview process).
