Shelter Case Manager
Family Violence & Rape Crisis Services in Chatham County, NC, seeks a Shelter Case Manager to provide crisis intervention, ongoing emotional support, and case management to women and their children during their stay at our shelter. This position is full time, M-F, with the need for some flexibility in scheduling, including the possibility of one shift per week from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Shelter Case Manager needs an understanding of empowerment and trauma-informed approaches to working with the survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence, along with an understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and its impact on individuals, children and families. An understanding of the intersection between domestic violence and other forms of oppression is also helpful. In addition to directly supporting shelter residents, duties include assisting in associated administrative tasks and in the general operation of the shelter.
Knowledge of domestic and sexual violence and their dynamics
Knowledge of PTSD and the impact of trauma
Experience in working with individuals in crisis
Experience in working with mothers and children
Skills in conflict-resolution
Experience in residential management
Understanding of the intersections of oppression
