Intervention Services

FVRC defines “intervention services” as those occurring after domestic or sexual violence has affected an individual or family.

fvrc_favicon24-hour Crisis Intervention

FVRC provides crisis intervention 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, offering information and referrals, safety planning, emotional support, accompaniment and advocacy. Staff advocates are available for in-person services during office hours at the Pittsboro and Siler City locations. Volunteer advocates answer calls from their home phones outside of business hours.

FVRC advocates attend all civil and criminal district court sessions to assist victims in understanding and utilizing the justice system.

fvrc_faviconThe Garden Place Shelter

The Garden Place provides a safe, confidential and supportive refuge for women and their children who are victims of domestic or sexual violence. Support groups, counseling, advocacy, and assistance accessing community resources are provided on site. Last year, the Garden Place provided more than 2,500 nights of refuge, housing an average of 7 women and children per night.

On-going group sessions with a focus on healing, assertiveness, self-esteem and empowerment are offered for women and children.

fvrc_faviconIndividual and Family Counseling

Adult and child victims are assisted with their healing process, exploration of options, and establishing goal and plans for creating safe, rewarding, and violence-free lives. In-home counseling is offered to promote family bonding and the establishment of violence-free homes.

fvrc_faviconPEACE Program (People Ending Abuse through Counseling and Education)

Individuals can learn to establish nonviolent relationships in a 26-week, state-certified batterers intervention program, which provides assessments, information and referrals, counseling and education.

fvrc_faviconCamp Dragonfly

Since 1996, FVRC has offered a weeklong summer day camp for children ages 6-12. Campers build self-esteem and conflict resolution skills through art and nature projects and facilitated group recreational activities.
