Dear Friends,

We have exciting news! FVRC is making plans to move out of our present Siler City location, and into a new space we’ve been dreaming about and needing for many years. The new location in downtown Siler City will be a great improvement. In addition to being wheelchair accessible, the new space is big enough for a counseling room, kids room and a co-located thrift store.

We hope to move into our new space this fall. First, though, we will need to do some major upfitting. The cost of adding a dividing wall and office units will be $30,000. We’ve already raised $11,350 – more than a third of what’s needed. Can you help push us along our way?

If you are able to give $500 or more it would be our honor to include your name on a Benefactor’s Wall that will be prominently on view at our new location. There are also six office naming opportunities in this new place of healing and hope. If you are able to give at the $2,000 level, we would like to give your name to either an office, child playroom, counseling room or meeting room. Any pledge may be made anonymously, as well, if that is your preference.

Please consider supporting this wonderful opportunity for our program and all of the people we help in Chatham County and the surrounding area. We are determined to make this move happen, and we know we can’t do it without your help. Click here to donate to the Siler City Building Fund.

FVRC, along with eight other Triangle non-profits, received the first annual GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Award. The $40,000 award was given in recognition of the organizations’ work and positive impact on the health of their local community.

“We are honored to receive the IMPACT Award not only because it is a recognition of our work, but it is the recognition of domestic violence as a serious health care issue facing our community,” said Kathy Hodges, FVRC Co-Executive Director. “Financially, the award could not have come at a better time.”

Unlike many grants, where money is given for a specific program or purpose, the IMPACT Award can be used wherever it is most needed by the organization. With 85% of FVRC’s yearly budget going into direct services, it is safe to say that a large portion of the award will be used to continue assisting our clients.

Standing from L: Andrea Bazan, President of Triangle Community Foundation; Duncan Learmouth, VP Global Communications for GSK; Gary Phillips, FVRC Board Treasurer; Vicki Newell, FVRC Board Chair; Mary Linda Andrews, Director of Community Partnerships for GSK. Seated from L: Mary Linker, FVRC Counselor; Jo Sanders, FVRC Co-Executive Director; Kathy Hodges, FVRC Co-Executive Director; Carol Straight, CEO Chatham Hospital; Marianna King, FVRC Development Coordinator
